Insoles for children

"THE BEST FOR CHILDREN'S FEET"

Does my child need insoles?

Are you worried about the health of your child's feet? Flat feet or pes planovalgus are completely normal in children up to the age of 6 and are no cause for alarm!

However, if your child complains of pain while walking, has an extreme postural deformity of the feet, or has a neurological disease, you should seek the advice of a paediatric orthopaedic specialist.

In these cases, insoles for children can positively influence the posture of the feet and achieve good therapeutic results, even before the age of 6.

Sensorimotor insoles for children

Sensorimotor insoles are used to influence the gait in the event of neurological diseases of the brain or spinal cord. In contrast to conventional orthopaedic insoles, sensorimotor insoles for children specifically stimulate the soles of the feet in order to activate the muscles. The bones in the foot are stabilised, correcting the abnormal positioning of the feet and posture.

The Miosol® Kids concept

Our Miosol® Kids concept four-stage sensorimotor insole also actively influences the child's foot and lower leg muscles, activating or inhibiting them in order to restore the natural movement pattern of the child's foot. At the same time, it optimises the position of the ankle, knee and hip joints and prevents postural defects. Miosol® children's insoles differ in the various thicknesses of the corrective form so that they can be specifically adapted to severe postural deformities of the feet.

Our fashionable covers they are fitted with make the insoles much more fun for children to wear!

Is the health of your child's feet important to you?

When are insoles useful for children?

Insoles for children are generally useful and necessary from the age of 3 if they suffer from postural deformities of the feet. This is due to the development of the child's foot.

In the beginning, when they're still small and the arches are not very pronounced yet, children's feet develop quite quickly. The muscles and bone structure have to develop extremely quickly so that they can withstand the later stress of running.

The right time for children's insoles

Check the posture of your child's feet from the age of three. If you can still see a faulty posture, it is advisable to visit an orthopaedic specialist. During your child's growth phase, between the age of three and the end of puberty, children's insoles have a positive effect on the posture of the feet and usually completely correct any postural deformity of the feet.

If indicated, a paediatric orthopaedic specialist will issue a prescription for custom-made orthopaedic children's insoles. Your orthopaedic shoemaker will make the customised insole on-site from an imprint of your child's foot. The costs for children's insoles are borne by the statutory health insurance companies up to the age of 18.

The fit of the insole is important for the success of the therapy. Children's feet grow quickly, so regular size checks are necessary.

Always consult an orthopaedic specialist if your child:

  • is experiencing pain while walking;
  • has extreme postural deformities of the feet; or
  • has a neurological disorder.

How to prevent faulty foot postures in your child:

There are a few things you can do yourself to prevent postural deformities of your child's feet:
  • Let your child walk barefoot as much as possible. A variety of surfaces train the arch of the foot and the muscles of the child's foot.
  • Don't buy shoes until your child needs shoes for running outdoors.
  • Make sure you get good footwear that is of high quality and made of breathable material. Children's shoes should be as light as possible, have a flexible sole and be a good fit.
  • Children's feet grow quickly. You should therefore regularly check that the shoes still actually fit. Shoes that are too small have a negative impact on the development of children's feet and lead to postural deformities of the feet. As children's feet are very soft, they adapt to the shoe, so small children do not notice when their shoes are too small.

Regular foot exercises also help to strengthen children's feet and prevent postural deformities in the feet.

Proper care for children's insoles

All Miosol® and Secosol® insoles are very easy to care for. We recommend removing the insoles from the shoes at regular intervals and wiping them with a damp cloth. Then just leave them to dry out and air. Miosol® and Secosol® insoles should not be dried in the sun or on the heater, otherwise they may become deformed.
