Insoles at the workplace

Orthopaedic insoles for safety shoes and occupational footwear

Do you often experience tired, heavy legs or pain in your feet? Do you suffer from knee or back problems after a long day at work, and are you looking for supportive orthopaedic insoles for safety shoes?

Postural deformities of the feet often cause knee and back problems. Prolonged walking and standing or heavy lifting during the working day often exacerbate these problems. This is where orthopaedic insoles for safety shoes and occupational footwear help. They serve to protect the feet and avoid incorrect loads, which lead to permanent pain in the musculoskeletal system.

If you are in pain, consult an orthopaedic specialist in good time. He or she will determine the reason for your complaints and draw up an appropriate prescription for insoles for safety shoes. This helps you to avoid permanent damage and serious illnesses.

Insurance cover only for certified insoles for safety shoes

Insoles for safety shoes, like the shoe itself, are a part of personal protective equipment in the workplace and are therefore subject to particularly high standards.

Only orthopaedic insoles that are certified according to DGUV 112-191, such as Secosol®, may be worn in safety shoes. This is the only way to provide the foot with the best possible protection in the shoe while not limiting liability in the event of an accident at work.

If the foot protection is changed in any way, it will lose its certification and the statutory insurance cover will expire. This already happens if you insert gel, fur or private orthopaedic insoles into your safety shoes.

In the event of an accident, the shoe cannot fulfil its protective function, and the insurance company will refuse to pay in the event of an injury.

Trust in Secosol®! Because our insole system is certified according to DGUV 112-191 for over 2,000 models of safety shoe and occupational footwear and conforms to Austrian ÖNORM standards.

Reimbursement of costs by the employer

Safety shoes are a part of personal protective equipment. For this reason, under the Occupational Safety and Health Act, employers are responsible for providing their employees with suitable foot protection. In the case of safety shoes that meet general ergonomic requirements and carry a CE marking, the employer will therefore reimburse the costs.

If orthopaedic changes have to be made to a shoe or if an employee needs safety shoe insoles that have been prescribed by a doctor, the employer can assume the additional cost, but is not obliged to do so.

Cost bearers for orthopaedic insoles in safety shoes

If your employer does not reimburse the cost of your safety shoe insoles, you can submit an application to the Federal Employment Agency or the German Pension Insurance Fund to cover the costs. This is conditional on the orthopaedic insoles being worn in safety shoes only and on them being required for professional activity at the workplace.

The institution to which the application must be addressed depends on the period of your insurance coverage up until that point. A minimum insurance period (waiting period) of 15 years applies for the German Pension Insurance Fund. For periods of less than 15 years, the Federal Employment Agency is the organisation to talk to.

However, if you are wearing insoles due to an occupational accident, your cost bearer is the Accident Insurance Fund or your employer's liability insurance association.

The statutory health insurance providers do not reimburse any costs for orthopaedic shoe adjustments to safety shoes, custom-made safety shoes, or orthopaedic insoles for safety shoes.

Important:
Applications for "employment participation benefits" must always be submitted prior to purchase or a binding order. Your cost bearer will only ever reimburse the actual cost of the insole.
